British Prime Minister Liz Truss said today in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK will never recognize “Russian attempts” to annex “sovereign territories” in Ukraine.

Truss stressed his country’s support “in the face of the fake Russian referendums in Ukraine”, according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse, referring to the victory in the disputed annexation consultations in four occupied Ukrainian provinces.

Pro-Russian authorities in Lugansk, Donetsk, southern Zaporizhia and Kherson provinces in eastern Ukraine said “yes” were imposed in referendums held for five days until yesterday, with 87% to 99% of the vote. .

“The prime minister made it clear that the UK will never recognize Russian attempts to annex sovereign territory,” London said, stressing that “Ukraine can count on British support until the defeat of (Russian) President Vladimir Putin.”
