They found marine fossils in Aldama, Ojinaga and Koyami

Most of the fossils found freely belong to invertebrate animals such as shells, snails, and ammonites, and their age ranges between 70 and 95 million years.

In one of the excavation areas located in the municipality of Dama, fragments of the comb of a dinosaur from the hadrosaur family were found, in addition to petrified wood. In addition, bones of Pleistocene animals have been discovered, such as fragments of long bones and vertebrae of prehistoric horses and camels, dating back to between 12,000 and 14,000 years ago.

These finds are the result of recent archaeological excavations carried out by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in the context of the introduction of the gas pipeline.

INAH-Chihuahua Center Director, Jorge Carrera Robles, noted that a record has been kept of all materials found during the work and supervision will continue to determine whether the fossil samples constitute an official fossil site or are isolated surface deposits. .

According to archaeologist Enrique Chacón Soria, a researcher at the INAH Chihuahua Center, the remains indicate that the part of the desert where dinosaur remains and petrified wood were found could be the seashore. This information is necessary to reconstruct the history of life in that geological period.

In addition to the excavations, an area was discovered in the municipality of Aldama with concentrations of materials that appear to be a camp-type archaeological site, where projectile points, stone and ceramic tools, shells, knife fragments, and possible stoves were found. According to Chacon, the camp is estimated to be between 800 and 1,000 years old.

Enrique Chacon also reported that seven areas were discovered with scattered stone monuments, typical of hunter-gatherer groups in the Sahara, dating back to the Late Archaic Period, about 2,000 years ago.
