They call for turning COP27 into a turning point in the fight against climate

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, EGYPT, NOVEMBER 7 (PRINSA LATINA) The Egyptian Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, emphasized today that the Climate Summit (COP27), which is being held in this city, should become a fundamental turning point in efforts to combat the scourge. In an interview with the official Middle East News Agency, the official explained that one of the most important and urgent issues for developing countries is adaptation and financing to deal with the problem.

He assured, as hosts, that the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) will allow us to move from commitments to implementation in order to realize the aspirations of peoples.

In this regard, he urged rich countries to fulfill their promises of $100 billion annually.

Fouad called for accelerating the pace of global climate action in order to reduce emissions of polluting gases into the atmosphere, increase adaptation efforts and improve financial flows to countries with few resources, especially those in Africa.

The Minister highlighted the presence of thousands of representatives from different sectors of the world at COP27, including youth, women, indigenous leaders, businessmen, artists, scientists and NGOs.

He noted that the goal is to contribute their ideas about the climate problems facing humanity, and to provide innovative and effective solutions.

In this regard, he stressed the need to educate the community in general about the issue.

He stressed that combating this scourge will not be effective if we do not put the human being at the center of environmental work, whether in terms of the integration of his needs or his participation in the implementation of projects.
