In a huge action held in the city of Portoviejo, in the province of Manabi, the head of the movement, Marcela Aguinaga, announced that Jorge Glas Espinel would be the candidate for the presidency of the Republic, but he refused in favor of Luisa Gonzalez.

The National Council of the Citizens’ Revolution Movement approved the binomial for the 2023 elections.

On the other hand, Glass will be the campaign manager for the early election, which will hold its first round on August 20, 2023.

The period for conducting primaries or internal democratic processes for political organizations has been extended from June 7 to June 10, 2023.

Until June 13, organizations had a deadline to register their candidates for the upcoming elections.

Representatives of the movement met at the event, such as former Assemblywoman Viviana Feloz, who promoted the political trial against President Guillermo Lasso.

During the performance, one of the participants shouted: “Raphael Correa come back!

On the other hand, the Renace movement, led by former Olympic athlete Jefferson Perez, announced its support for Citizen’s Revolution in the early elections of August 20, 2023.

“After a process of internal deliberation, the Citizens’ Movement has made the decision to support the Citizens’ Revolution movement in the upcoming elections,” said the statement by Raines, who calls himself a centre-left.
