The visit of the leaders of the executive branch of Costa Rica coincides with a press release issued by the Broad Front party demanding that the government stop abandoning this indigenous community.

In accordance with the FA’s commitment to indigenous peoples and following the work of the legislative faction and the Indigenous Front, we commit to continuing the struggle of the Rei Curie community, in Buenos Aires de Puntarenas, the largest leftist group from Costa Rica.

The FA’s stance stems from a demonstration held last Saturday in the Rei Korean community and maintains that the said protest is the product of the continued abandon and indifference of the national and local governments to that community.

Community leaders say that the only response from the government to their problems over the years has been dialogue tables with various institutions that do not end with real solutions.
