Science and coding in schools are encouraged by the Thai Ministry of Education – Asia News


he Ministry of education Thais continue to prioritize science and coding as basic skills for schoolchildren, having recently launched a campaign to offer coding courses to elementary school students.

Education Minister Trinoch Thinthong and Deputy Education Minister Kalaya Sophonpanesh recently led a team of ministry officials who met Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan O Cha to promote this campaign.

In line with the government’s policy to improve science education, innovation, programming and computing, the campaign aims to provide coding classes for primary school students to increase the country’s innovation capacity and create new and innovative researchers.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister also met with Dr. Suprida Oduyannon, Director of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, and officials from relevant agencies and partners to promote the creative school break campaign. This initiative encourages children to engage in constructive activities outside the classroom.

The campaign aims to provide programming lessons to primary school students to increase the nation’s ability to innovate

The foundation announced the schedule for the campaign’s activities on March 11, which will take place in pilot learning cities such as Bangkok, Uttaradit, Nakhon Ratchasima and Yala, as well as 25 other provinces across the country.

The campaign aims for self-sufficiency and sustainability, driven by collaboration between public agencies, private companies and community learning centres.
