Russia is making efforts to ensure humanitarian corridors work in Ukraine, says Lavrov – Juventud Rebeldy

MOSCOW, March 5 Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said on Saturday that his country’s military did everything in its power to make humanitarian corridors work in the face of attacks and obstacles by Ukrainian nationalists, according to a PL report.

Speaking to the press after talks with his counterpart from Kyrgyzstan, Ruslan Kazakbayev, the senior Russian official confirmed that the Russian forces have done all the work that depends on them.

The Russian Foreign Minister noted that “the main thing now is to get people out of cities and towns through the humanitarian corridors secured by our army,” referring to the implementation of the negotiation agreement between the two parties.

“We hope, or at least, that this agreement will be clearly implemented,” he added, while saying that he had received information about the refusal of the authorities of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol to allow civilians to leave through the humanitarian corridor. ..

He noted that also in the city of Kherson, when the humanitarian corridor was opened, representatives of the Russian Emergencies Ministry tried to help with the evacuation of people and the delivery of humanitarian aid, but the authorities refused to accept it.

The head of the Russian National Center for Defense Oversight, Colonel Mikhail Mizintsev, warned this afternoon that 200,000 refugees from the city of Mariupol and 15,000 refugees from Volnovakia who were expected to be transferred through the humanitarian corridors will not arrive.

Mizintsev, head of the Ministerial Coordination of Humanitarian Aid, noted that according to the latest reports received, the nationalists are not releasing civilians and foreigners from these sites.

He added that shortly before the passages were opened, the nationalists opened artillery fire on the positions of the Russian Armed Forces from Mariupol and Volnovakia.

Zelensky on Saturday criticized NATO’s refusal to close his country’s airspace during the last meeting of the military bloc’s foreign ministers, which he considered weak and confusing.
