Mansu Hill honoring the 112th anniversary of the birth of Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, April 15 (Radio Havana Cuba) Today is declared a holiday and the Day of the Sun throughout the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, as the nation's founder, Kim Il Sung, is venerated on the 112th anniversary of his birth.
The front pages and almost all pages of newspapers, radio and television spaces, social networks, posters in the streets and on building facades, are dedicated to what they here call the Father of the People.
Among the hundreds of thousands of people who went to the capital's Mansu Hill – where two huge statues of Kim Il Sung and revered leader Kim Jong Il stand – are the main cadres of the Workers' Party, the state and the government. The armed forces and social organizations.
One of the wreaths placed at the site is for Secretary-General of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, Kim Jong-un.
As in previous days, Koreans are flocking this Monday to places associated with Kim Il Sung's life and revolutionary work.
These places include the capital's Mangyongdae neighborhood, where the venerable leader was born, and the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, which houses his remains, but the scene is repeated in all the country's cities and provinces during the so-called Sun Festivals, which in the DPRK are equivalent to Christmas in the West.
During the April 15 holiday and the following two days, gifts are given to children and many couples get married as they are considered auspicious dates.
However, political, social, cultural, sporting and entertainment events in honor of the person who was declared eternal President of the Republic are held throughout the month.
The latest thing local media reported was an international symposium on the “Juche Idea,” for which many researchers of Kim Il Sung’s thought from all continents traveled to Pyongyang.
At the end of the event, the delegates sent a letter to Kim Jong-un in which they reaffirmed their attachment to Kimilsong-Kimjongilism and their sympathy for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and its struggle to build socialism with original characteristics.
Also yesterday, an evening was held in the capital's Kim Il Sung Square, in which young people and students danced and sang songs referring to the founder of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the ideology of Eminwishon (regarding the people as a paradise).
On the other hand, the Spring Friendship Arts Festival continued in April in Pyongyang, also dedicated to the birth of Kim Il Sung.
National artists and performers from Russia, China, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Italy and Venezuela are participating in the 13th edition of the event, sending videos of their works that have already been shown or will be shown via Korea Central Television and websites such as Korean Art.
