HAVANA, AUGUST 4 (RHC) The Center for Applied Linguistics-CLA-, based in Santiago de Cuba, is preparing for the 18th edition of the International Symposium on Social Communication, an event of remarkable importance among these professionals on five continents.

Sources from the Foundation indicated that the event will take place from January 23 to 27, 2023 and will certify its multidisciplinary nature, continuing since the first, in 1987, and expressed in linguistics and medicine related to speech and sound, ethnology and mass folklore. Media and education.

Previous courses will deal with Natural Language Processing in Historical Texts, by Dr. Isascon Etxeberia, of the University of the Basque Country, and Scholastic Texts and Coherence Relations: Theory, Methods and Effects, by experts from the Chilean University of Valparaíso.

Other attractions of the program include the major conferences, in which physicians Anton Nijholt, of the University of Twente, Enschede, the Netherlands, and Luis Fernando Lara, of Colegio de Mexico, confirmed their participation.

Together with several Cuban institutions, others from Austria, Denmark, the United States, Chile, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the Basque Country co-sponsored the meeting.

Through the relevant scientific path and practical applications in the teaching and learning of Spanish in the Cuban educational system, CLA maintains links with more than ten related entities in the world, and in these fifty years, it has established itself as a valid reference.
