Paris 2024: The United States boasts a new 'Dream Team' for the Olympics

In an exciting video, the United States announced the names of the 12 members of the basketball team that will compete for a fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games.

The selection brought together veteran NBA stars who were ready to compete in Paris, such as LeBron James (Lakers) and Stephen Curry (Warriors), with young men such as Jayson Tatum (Celtics) and Anthony Edwards (Timberwolves).

Also on the list is Joel Embiid (Sixers), the NBA's reigning MVP, who chose to represent “Team USA” instead of his native Cameroon.

NBA officials have approved Kawhi Leonard (Clippers) to fill the last available spot.

The remaining members are point guards Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers) and Jrue Holiday (Celtics); Forwards Devin Booker (Suns) and Kevin Durant (Suns) and centers Anthony Davis (Lakers) and Bam Adebayo (Heat).

USA Basketball general manager Grant Hill met in recent days with most of the 12 players invited to the team.

The mission of this new version of the “Dream Team”, which will be managed by Steve Kerr (The Warriors), will be to restore American pride after the disastrous failure they suffered in September in the World Cup finals in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan, where they lost in the semi-finals to the subsequent champions Germany. It ended up leaving him on the podium.

The Olympic Basketball Tournament will be held from July 27 to August 10, with the group stage taking place in Lille followed by the final stage at Arena Bercy in Paris.
