The presentation of the Pamplona Meetings 2024 / Iruñeko Topaketak 2024 held today, 14 November in Baluarte, Navarra, brings together an international biennale of culture, art and thought with a large central program that will be held in Pamplona from 3 to 13 October 2024.

Promoted by the Government of Navarra and organized by the Baluarte Foundation in collaboration with La Caixa Foundation, the Pamplona Meetings 2024/Irónico Tobatakec 2024, represented a milestone in the development of the first international biennale of culture, art and thought of our society on the basis of the positive influence and significant impact created by the Pamplona 72-22 Irónico Tobatakec Meetings.

In this way, what was born as a celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of an event that attracted great figures of the avant-garde to the capital of Navarre, was “a confirmation that there is a need among citizens for time and space for reflection and contemplation.” Moreover, doing so personally and collectively generated shared feelings and enthusiasm for knowledge and discussion, as explained by Rebeca Esnaola, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Government of Navarra.

This, together with the influence and good reception not only in Navarra, but also at the national and international level of the initiative, has led to the preservation of the Pamplona/Irónico Tupaquitac meetings and the promotion of some of the characteristics and actions of the 2022 edition, but as “an independent biennale that reflects the present and looks to the future” and “ It seeks to encourage meetings with leading thinkers, intellectuals and innovators as an incentive for dialogue and critical thinking.”

The central program of the Pamplona Meetings 2024/Erónico Tupacitac 2024 will be held from 3 to 13 October 2024 and will bring together key figures from the field of culture, arts and thought in the different fields in which the program is proposed. . It will have the Navarra Conference Center and the ballroom, Baluarte, as its main venue, although cultural and artistic activities will also be expanded to other spaces and public spaces and speakers will be able to dialogue with groups and citizens during their stay in our community.

Main lines of the central programme

The program is curated by thinker and writer Ramón Andrés and is organized into nine thematic blocks: the twenty-first century, the philosophy of positioning the self; In the Beginning Were the Hands (Reflections on Technology); Literature without turning a new page; The Trees We Have Left (thoughts about the environment); We all come from very far away; Feminist Mirror; Live from art; Cinema inside and music in all directions.

Among some of the issues that will be addressed are populism, society, nature and machines, the relationship between art and science, reforestation and the city or ecofeminism, among many others. This program will take shape in actions before the Biennale, where the School of Encounters will be launched targeting students from educational centers in Navarre to work on the broad outlines of thought and culture that will be addressed at the Biennale through artistic workshops that integrate experimentation. Likewise, meetings will be promoted between persons invited to the meetings, international leaders from different fields of thought, and specific sectors of Navarrese society in the educational, artistic, cultural and scientific fields during the days in which the Pamplona meetings are held. Alliances

One of the goals of the Pamplona 2024/Erónico Tupacitac 2024 meetings is to continue weaving alliances with institutions and cultural agents in Navarra and at the national level.
