Man United suffered a heavy blow from Aston Villa after the crowd reacted to the Manchester City announcement

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has been suspended for three games after breaching an FA rule on social media.

The first of those three matches is a visit to Aston Villa on Friday evening (8pm), while they will also play the Carabao Cup semi-final with Manchester City and the FA Cup match against Watford.

The infraction related to posting on the Instagram photo and video-sharing platform, which has since been removed, following the 3-2 win over Southampton in November, in which Cavani knocked off the bench to score twice to claim a United’s comeback victory.

According to an FA statement, Cavani will miss United’s next three matches and have been fined 100,000 pounds.

Solshire fired a Greelish warning

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won praise for Jack Grealish and warned his Man United players against paying close attention to the Villa captain.

Grealish has played a key role in Villa’s transition from relegation rivals to true European competitors this season.

The 25-year-old has five goals and eight assists in 15 Premier League matches while also breaking into the England team.

Grealish’s future at Villa was uncertain during the summer transfer window while United was concerned but put an end to speculation by signing a new five-year contract on the eve of the new season.

The death of the former villa manager

Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers Technical director Tommy Docherty has passed away at the age of 92.

Docherty, who also used to run Manchester United and Scotland, died of a long illness.

Docherty, a Preston North End legend who spent nine years in Deepdale, died at home in the Northwest yesterday (December 31).

He was a manager of Manchester United for five years in the 1970s and won the FA Cup and Second Division title with Old Trafford.

Villa fans say the same about the Manchester City ad

The Aston Villa match against Manchester City, scheduled for the season opening day, has been confirmed on Wednesday 20 January.

The match will be broadcast at Al Ittihad Stadium on BT Sport and kicks off at 8.15 pm.
