List of new historic vehicles: simpler and cheaper

The update of the Historic Vehicles Regulation is approaching and, according to the Royal Spanish Motorcycle Federation, will be published during the first half of 2023. The DGT is already running it with the aim of revising the existing regulations regarding historic vehicles and making it easier and cheaper to register a historic motorcycle. It is clear that the Spanish historic vehicle sector needs a better and simpler organization that encourages the preservation and maintenance of classic motorcycles.

A meeting between the institutions and organizations of the sector

Last Wednesday, a meeting was held between the various automotive institutions, in collaboration with the Motorcycle Museum, and was attended by a number of organizations such as ANESDOR, ANFAC, LUIKE, IYLC, FENEVAL, FEVA, RACE, RFEDA and RFME as well as the mayor from the Alcalá de Henares City Hall, where The Motorcycle Museum is located. The idea to organize a World Historic Car Day, with the support of the DGT, arose at this meeting, where the new regulations would be presented. As a preface to the script expected to be published before the summer, Francisco de las Alas Pomariño detailed the latest edits to the draft once he had studied the claims made.

Regulation improvements

One improvement included in the new Historic Vehicle Regulations is that classic motorcycles (pre-1993) already registered with an updated ITV can be classified as Historic only by paying a small fee, while unregistered motorcycles and mopeds will follow a simplified procedure of comparison. with the current action. In the same way, the periodic inspection of historical motorcycles becomes every four years and the obligation on those manufactured before the year 50 is canceled as well as for historical motorcycles.
