INE Sonora and Tec de Monterrey begin reading the circle of the notebook collection for the dissemination of democratic culture

Among the powers of the National Electoral Institute is to contribute to the development of the democratic life of the country, as well as to the promotion and dissemination of civil and political culture among the population.

As part of the activities for the dissemination of democratic culture, the Local Executive Council (JLE) of the National Institute of Statistics, Sonora, in coordination with the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Government of Tec de Monterrey, carried out the first reading cycle of the brochures for the dissemination of democratic culture with the aim of creating a space for dialogue and exchange of ideas on issues related to democracy.

Welcoming and serving the department was responsible for Lic. Jannet Piteros Méndez, Electoral Training and Civic Education Member of the INE Local Council in Sonora, thanked the attendees for their interest in participating in the Reading Circle, in addition to commenting on the importance and correctness of the texts, explaining that the set of Disclosure notebooks for Democratic Culture consists of 41 texts, which present In a clear and didactic manner the basic processes of democracy and also contribute to the public debate on contemporary science. Policy.

It is about making these brief but substantive texts tools that help citizens, the academic community, and the population at large understand the complex transition to democracy that our country has undergone, he emphasized.

For his part, the Mtro. Eduardo Tapia Romero, Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Government at the Tec de Monterrey campus in Sonora Norte, informed the audience that the reading circle will consist of an analysis of texts related to aspects of democracy, noting that in this first circle, the booklet for the dissemination of democratic culture No. 1 “Principles and Values” will be addressed Democracy” by Luis Salazar and Jose Waldenberg.

The majority concluded that it is our responsibility as citizens to continue building the democracy we want.

Finally, Tapia Romero stated that given that there are still large sections of the population that need to enhance their knowledge of democratic life, the Reading Circle will be held once a month until December, and several texts from the collection, which will serve readers to consult and deepen citizenship building through civic education.
