The 19th International Computer Conference and Exhibition 2024, the country's most important scientific event and exhibition in the field of information and communications technologies, opened on Monday in Havana under the slogan “For a Digital Society”, and the event aims to disseminate the results of research, innovation and collective development.

Wifredo Gonzalez Vidal, First Deputy Minister of Communications at the Ministry of Communications, said that about a thousand delegates from 16 countries are participating in the working sessions.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the process of implementing public policies related to ICT that have been developed in Cuba in recent years.

Several official delegations from India, Iran, Russia, Bolivia, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago are expected to attend, in addition to a representative of the International Telecommunication Union and other renowned experts.

During the opening, Doreen Bogdan Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, delivered a virtual message to the participants.

As part of the opening day programme, a high-level panel discussion was held on digital information, challenges and challenges, attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Government Jorge Luis Broche and Minister of Communications Mayra Arevic Marin.

The agenda will be completed with nine scientific events and eight major conferences, including one dedicated to the fundamental challenge of artificial intelligence.
