Famous little wizard Harry Potter will appear on a series of UK coins, including the 50 pence, unveiled by the Royal Mint, the British body responsible for printing coins and banknotes, on Thursday.
“Royal Mint Releases Coin Set to Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Harry Potter at School of Wizards,” the first volume of successful wizard’s adventures and fantasy universe created by author J.K. Rowling, detailed the statement on Thursday.
The series will consist of four pieces including a portrait of the famous wizard in circle glasses, as well as the Hogwarts Express, Professor Albus Dumbledore and the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft.
The pieces include a visual effect that simulates the effect of “lightning” when rotated in front of the light, which is obtained thanks to the latest lasers that magically magic coins, but also allow them to be secured and authenticated, the Royal Mint defines.
Coins with Isabel II and Carlos III
Released in 1997, the seven-volume series chronicles the adventures of young wizard Harry Potter at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft, and his battle against Lord Voldemort, a wizard who seeks immortality.
The book sales in the series amounted to hundreds of millions of dollars, while the eight films brought in billions of dollars in revenue.
The pieces presented by the Royal Mint on Thursday included two pieces decorated with pictures of Queen Elizabeth II, who died last month, and two other pieces bearing the official portrait of King Charles III, according to the statement.
