Environmental activists paint famous London buildings orange

Members of the environmental group Just Stop Oil sprayed orange paint on the facades of the Home Office, MI5 (National Intelligence Service), the Bank of England and the headquarters of media group News Corp in London on Monday.

“These buildings were chosen because they represent the pillars that sustain and sustain the strength of the fossil fuel economy, government, security, finance and media,” Just Stop Oil said in a statement.

The police announced that eight people had been arrested.

A spokesperson for the group, which is campaigning for its goals, said, “The era of fossil energy should be long gone, but the pernicious fallout from fossil fuel interests continues to taint our politics, government and media as they have for decades.” Stop any new oil and gas projects immediately.

Among the sites drawn is the headquarters of News Corp, the US group owned by Australian businessman Rupert Murdoch, owner of the leading British newspaper The Times and The Sun newspaper.

Just Stop Oil has been implementing a series of measures in the UK since the beginning of the month. For example, activists toppled a wax statue of King Charles in Madame Tussaud’s wax museum, dumped tomato soup in Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” at the National Gallery and spray painted an Aston Martin dealership.

Activists have repeatedly blocked London streets over the weekend and have faced the wrath of motorists, who have sometimes driven them away using force.
