China will contribute funds to promote global development

President Xi Jinping said his country will provide funding to the United Nations funds responsible for promoting peace and progress in the world, speaking at the opening of a high-level dialogue organized in the context of the 14th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. As indicated, the Asian giant is also ready to cooperate in areas such as renewable energy, sustainable use of land and marine resources, and joint production of vaccines.

However, Xi insisted on building an international consensus to overcome the challenges of today’s world, promote progress and advance the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

He advocated an environment in which an open economy, free of protectionism, unilateral sanctions, segregation and disruption, flows in the global supply chain.

The official called for investing in innovation, accelerating technology transfer and knowledge exchange, and expanding cooperation between countries with large and small economies, in order to build a more inclusive, balanced and equitable development pattern.

Xi Jinping led the high-level dialogue, which was held via video conference, and was attended by his counterparts Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil), Vladimir Putin (Russia), and Prime Minister Narendra Modi (India), as well as leaders of other emerging economies.

This meeting was the culmination of the meetings held this week of the 14th BRICS Heads of State and Government Summit.

The mentioned group is an economic-trade association between the five most important emerging economies in the world that share the common characteristics of having a large population, a vast area and a large amount of natural resources.
