Can you sign up for a Netflix advertising plan in Argentina and Colombia? – experts.com

As of November 2022, Netflix’s advertising plan was launched, the new – not very tempting – proposal for the streaming platform to avoid a drop in subscribers and try to compete with services like Disney Plus and HBO Max, which is steadily growing. In which countries will it be available? Will it be possible to participate in Argentina and Colombia?

With the exception of Mexico and Brazil, the most populous markets in Latin America, no other country in the region will have an ad-supported Netflix plan, at least in the short term.

In Mexico it will cost 99 Mexican pesos, which is roughly $5, which will be cheaper than the $6.99 it would cost in the US.

Other countries in which this plan could be contracted would be Germany, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Spain, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.

But is it worth subscribing to the ad-supported Netflix plan?

The truth is that the proposal does not look very attractive, and with the exception of people who have it as a secondary platform, and not the main one, the limitations of the so-called “cheap Netflix plan” are quite a lot.

Video playback quality will be limited to 720p (which is not even remotely optimal for viewing on Full HD -1080p- or 4K TVs), content cannot be downloaded for offline viewing, and playback will only be allowed on one device at a time and there will be between 5 and 10 percent of series and movies that will not be available. Added to all this is that it will be necessary to see about 5 minutes of ads per hour, which will be distributed at the beginning and middle of the content that a person is watching.

Currently, the ad-supported Netflix plan will not be available in Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Bolivia, and other Latin American countries. But it is clear that they will not miss much.
