After complaints of harassment, the medical school has suspended clinical practices at IMSS

In response to complaints against Julio Cesar N. , a physician assigned to the gynecological department of General Hospital de Zona (HGZ) No. 1, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) reported that it is conducting investigations to disavow responsibilities.

He explained that the Legal Services Headquarters, in accordance with the current legal regulations and in accordance with the Protocol to Prevent, Pay Attention and Punish Sexual Harassment and Harassment in the Workplace of the Federal Public Administration, is performing the corresponding procedures for the labor of administrative investigation. and defining responsibilities.

In this sense, the circumstances and testimonies of the persons who submitted their complaint will be followed up, with the aim of formalizing and ratifying the complaint.

The Institute for International Medical Services stated that in the case of complaints of sexual harassment and harassment in the workplace, the organization reiterates its commitment to workers to investigate and move forward from a gender perspective.

For his part, Ismael Herrera Benavente, Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi, stated that as soon as he became aware of the complaints of harassment and sexual harassment of students, precautionary measures were taken. , Temporarily suspending clinical practices, as long as their safety and integrity is not guaranteed in the above-mentioned area of ​​the hospital.

He added that through close cooperation with the IMSS authorities, the case was followed up to be resolved in accordance with the protocols and regulations of both institutions.

He stressed that “in this case and in any case the safety of female university students is endangered, there will be absolutely no tolerance. Relevant measures will be implemented, taking care at all times that the abuse is not repeated.”
