Academics promotion at SNI

The National Scholars System has recognized the work of 25 academics from the Potocino Institute for Scientific and Technological Research, IPICYT, who have been promoted, reappointed or accepted into the 2021 call for the said academic system. On the other hand, Masters in Molecular Biology and Masters in Applied Geosciences programs have been evaluated positively in the National Postgraduate Quality Program.

The National System of Scholars (SNI), shown on its website, is a mechanism created to recognize the work of educators and researchers dedicated to the production of scientific knowledge and technology; Recognition is achieved through peer review and consists of awarding a national scholar designation. This distinction symbolizes the quality and prestige of the scientific contributions; In addition to the appointment, financial support is provided, the amount of which varies depending on the level assigned.

Three IPICYT researchers have been accepted into SNI Level I: Miguel Alejandro Olvera Sosa, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Environmental Sciences, Tzipatly Angélica Esquivel Castro, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Advanced Materials, and Victor Manuel Ruiz Rodriguez, Postdoctoral Fellow at Department of Molecular Biology.

Similarly, 11 IPICYT professionals renewed their membership to SNI at one of the three levels of the system. Academics who have maintained their distinction as National Level I researchers are: Nguyen Esmeralda López Lozano and Felipe Barragan Torres, attached to the Department of Environmental Sciences, Samuel Lara Gonzalez, researcher in the Department of Molecular Biology, Alicia Muñez Ramírez, attached to the Department of Advanced Materials, and Cesaré Moiséz Ovando Vándo Attached to the National Center for Supercomputing.

Second Level. In contrast, physicians Juan Francisco Jimenez Premont, a researcher in the Department of Molecular Biology, and Florentino Lopez Urillas and Vicente Rodriguez Gonzalez, researchers in the Department of Advanced Materials, received their renewed designation as National Level III researchers.

In terms of promotions, 10 IPICYT academics have been upgraded from level: from fourth level to first level, from fifth to second level and from second level to third level. Daphne Edith Gonzalez Juárez, Attaché, Department of Molecular Biology, Elizabeth Diane Isaacs Baez, Academic Technician in the Department of Environmental Sciences, Carina Asad Robledo Marquez, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Molecular Biology, and Tonamel Sanchez Ramírez, Researcher. To the first level attached to the Department of Control and Dynamic Systems.

Likewise, Doctors J. Research Attaché to the Department of Applied Geosciences, Jorge Roberto Oliva Ock, Professor of the Department of Advanced Materials, was promoted to second level.

Notably, Dr. Elisabeth Huber-Sanwald and Sonia Lorena Arriaga-Garcia, researchers in the Department of Environmental Sciences, were promoted to Level III within the National Institute of Studies.

IPICYT master’s degrees have been evaluated positively in the PNPC

IPICYT taught master’s degrees maintain high quality in National Postgraduate Program for Quality (PNPC) assessments. The MSc in Molecular Biology renewed the level of “international competence”, while the MSc in Applied Geosciences validated the level of the “standardized” programme.

The Molecular Biology and Applied Geosciences Teachers Associations have received congratulations from the community that makes up IPICYT because the master’s degrees they teach in their respective departments have been positively evaluated by the PNPC. In particular, Physicians Sanjeet Kumar and Sergio Casas, the academic coordinators of the respective programs, were honored for their excellent work in preparing important documents required for the PNPC assessment.

With these results, the IPICYT Postgraduate Program maintains the high quality of the various PhD and MSc degrees offered within its scope of studies, MSc and PhD in Environmental Sciences, MSc in Molecular Biology Sciences, as well as PhD in Nanosciences and Materials obtaining the status of international competition within the PNPC of CONACYT. While the PhD in Molecular Biology, the MSc and PhD in Control and Dynamical Systems, as well as the MSc and PhD in Applied Geosciences, in addition to the MSc in Nanosciences and Materials at the consolidated level.
