Jet2 to quit AIM for Main Market as summer bookings rise 8.8%

The package holiday giant confirms plans to leave AIM for the Main Market just as it reports another summer of resilient demand.

Jet2 (AIM: JET2) has confirmed it intends to move from AIM to the Main Market's commercial companies category before the end of its current financial year, in a move it says better reflects its scale after a decade of rapid expansion.

The announcement came alongside a trading update showing seat capacity for summer 2026 up 7.6% year-on-year to 19.9 million seats, with passengers booked to date ahead 8.8% and load factors 1.5 percentage points higher than last year, underlining the resilience of consumer demand for package holidays despite a tougher UK economic backdrop.

Jet2 is currently the second-largest company on AIM by market capitalisation, behind Greatland Resources, and its departure would mark another high-profile loss for the junior market, which has seen a steady stream of companies migrate to the Main Market or delist entirely in recent years. Revenue has grown at a compound annual rate of 19% over the past ten years, a pace of expansion the company says has outgrown what AIM can offer in terms of investor reach.

The group's newer London Gatwick base is outperforming expectations, helped by a stronger package holiday mix, prompting Jet2 to lift its Gatwick-based fleet to seven aircraft for summer 2027. Early indications for winter bookings also point to further growth, with capacity up 8% and Gatwick again leading the increase, while customers continue to book closer to their departure dates.

On costs, Jet2 has hedged 93% of its jet fuel requirements for the year at an average price of $753, alongside more than 90% of its currency exposure, giving management a high degree of visibility over margins. The Main Market move is expected to complete before the current financial year end, positioning Jet2 for inclusion in a broader range of institutional and index-tracking portfolios.
