Helium and hydrogen explorer Georgina Energy has quadrupled in value since May as drilling at its flagship Hussar prospect edges closer.
Shares in helium and hydrogen explorer Georgina Energy (LSE: GEX) have rocketed more than 380% since mid-May, climbing from around 3p to roughly 14.59p, as the company's flagship Hussar prospect in Western Australia moves within weeks of the drill bit.
The rerating comes with no change to Georgina's underlying financial position – the company remains pre-revenue, as its latest annual report confirms – but rather reflects a shift in how close investors believe the business now sits to a tangible drilling event that could validate years of exploration work.

Hussar, operated through Georgina's wholly owned subsidiary Westmarket Oil & Gas, covers around 300 square kilometres of areal closure in the Officer Basin. The company plans to drill a 3,200 metre well targeting subsalt formations for helium, hydrogen and natural gas, with an independent geological report from February 2026 assigning substantial prospective resources across all three commodities. Those figures remain prospective resources rather than proven reserves, and no commercial discovery has yet been made.
Georgina's operational update confirmed civil engineering work at the Hussar site is being completed, conductor pipe has arrived, and mobilisation of the contracted Ensign 970 rig is approaching, with a September 2026 spud still on target. The company also holds a second project, Mt Winter in the Amadeus Basin of the Northern Territory, which management views as a further potential development opportunity behind Hussar.
With drilling now close at hand, the coming weeks should provide the market with far more concrete information than the resource estimates and exploration plans that have underpinned Georgina's valuation to date. As a pre-revenue explorer, the stock remains highly sensitive to drilling news flow, and the outcome at Hussar – success or otherwise – is likely to be the next major catalyst for the shares.
