The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, announced on Thursday that the UK will participate in defense cooperation projects related to military mobility.
“I am pleased to announce that the UK will join the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) projects on military mobility,” the Head of European Diplomacy emphasized at a press conference while presenting the Military Mobility Plan in Europe.
Subsequently, in response to a question about the possible entry of Turkey, which also demanded participation in joint military projects with the European Union, the High Representative reported that Ankara’s request was “advancing”.
Since leaving the EU, the High Representative has worked to try to integrate the UK into defense, research and university cooperation frameworks. Borrell has on several occasions called for “structural, enduring and agreed upon” cooperation, stating that it is “an essential part of international security” but lamenting the lack of harmony to achieve this.
Specifically, the European Union on Thursday presented its plan to adapt roads, railways and other infrastructure to the movement of military forces and means in such a way that European armed forces can respond better, faster and on a sufficient scale to crises that are collapsing.
