London, November 26 (EFE). British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has asked France to agree to “welcome back” people who cross the English Channel to the UK irregularly.
In the message, which the Conservative leader posted today on his Twitter account, Johnson details the five actions he would like to see “to move forward further and faster” in this crisis and prevent a repeat of a tragedy like the one that occurred on Wednesday, when 27 migrants drowned while trying to reach To this country in a perilous boat.
Among them, Johnson asked French President Emmanuel Macron to “undertake joint patrols to prevent more ships from leaving French shores, deploy more advanced technology, such as sensors and radars; reciprocal maritime patrols in their respective territorial waters, and airborne surveillance systems.” And a bilateral agreement with France on “returns”, as well as negotiations for a return agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union.
“An agreement with France to host migrants crossing the English Channel on this dangerous route will have an immediate and significant impact,” Johnson said in his letter. EFE
