Tertiary Minerals extends silver-copper-zinc system at Mushima North

All seven newly reported holes from Zambia's Mushima North Discovery Zone hit near-surface silver-copper-zinc mineralisation, with several ending in ore, hinting at a bigger system than previously modelled.

Tertiary Minerals (AIM: TYM) has reported fresh assay results from its Phase 4 drilling campaign at the Mushima North project in Zambia, confirming that all seven newly disclosed holes intersected silver-copper-zinc mineralisation close to surface at the Discovery Zone's Target A1. The company said the majority of these holes ended while still in mineralisation, indicating the system extends deeper than the boundaries used to define its existing JORC-compliant Exploration Target.

The results build on a headline intercept already reported by the company of 82 metres grading 53g/t silver equivalent, or 0.88% copper equivalent, starting just 7 metres below surface. With much of the latest batch failing to bottom out of mineralisation, Tertiary said the known depth extent of the deposit now runs beyond the envelope previously used to calculate its Exploration Target of 15 to 30 million tonnes at 40 to 60g/t silver equivalent, a development management described as materially de-risking the ongoing exploration effort.

The Phase 4 programme totalled 39 reverse-circulation holes for 3,639 metres, aimed at tightening confidence in mineralisation continuity, testing the edges of the Exploration Target and better defining a higher-grade core zone within the Discovery Zone. The near-surface mineralised body currently measures roughly 500 metres by 300 metres and up to 75 metres thick, and remains open to the northwest, southwest and at depth, leaving scope for further expansion as drilling continues.

Managing director Richard Belcher said the infill results were increasing confidence in both the extent and grade continuity of the Exploration Target, while flagging that the deposit's ultimate depth and a possible transition from oxide into underlying sulphide mineralisation have yet to be tested.

Investors will be watching for further assay batches from the ongoing programme, along with any follow-up drilling designed to probe the untested sulphide potential at depth, which could materially expand the resource base underpinning Tertiary's exploration target at Mushima North.
