Ten weeks after listing, the newly-minted gold explorer has started turning historical surface samples into a fully-funded maiden drill campaign in Ontario.
Talon Resources (AIM: TAR) has begun drilling at its Eagle Lake Gold Project in Ontario, confirming on 3rd September that work had started at the East Fornieri Bay target as part of an 11-hole, 1,375-metre maiden diamond drilling programme.
The move marks a swift transition for a company that only listed on AIM on 23rd June 2026 after converting from a Main Market cash shell, and it comes as investors wait to see whether historical high-grade surface results can be converted into a genuine drilling discovery.

Eagle Lake covers 95 contiguous claims across roughly 1,986 hectares in Ontario's Wabigoon Subprovince, an Archean greenstone belt known for orogenic gold systems, with Talon holding a 90% interest through Wedgetail Mining Corp. Only 26 historical holes have ever been drilled on the property, none deeper than 155 metres, despite surface sampling that has returned grades as high as 204 g/t Au at the Parker Shear zone.
Talon's own Phase 1 work this year lent modern support to those historical indications: channel sampling at East Fornieri Bay returned 1.85 metres at 7.17 g/t Au, including a high-grade interval of 0.50 metres at 24.40 g/t Au, alongside 4.80 metres at 4.47 g/t Au. Additional targets at Cedar Trench and the newly identified Moss Knoll also returned encouraging, if lower-grade, gold intercepts, broadening the exploration picture beyond the flagship Fornieri Bay structure.
The fully-funded maiden programme will test four target areas in total, East Fornieri Bay, West Fornieri Bay, Cedar Trench and Moss Knoll, with assay results due to be released in batches once analysis is complete. Historical pre-2012 results are flagged by the company as indicative only, meaning the current drilling is the first real test of whether Eagle Lake hosts a continuous, economically significant gold system rather than isolated pockets of high-grade mineralisation.
