Georgina Energy shares up 320%+ as September drilling nears at Hussar

A pre-revenue helium and hydrogen explorer has more than quadrupled in value as its flagship Australian well edges towards spud.

Georgina Energy (LSE: GEX) has seen its shares surge from around 3p in mid-May to roughly 12.68p at the time of writing, a rise of more than 320 per cent in under three months, as the company's Hussar prospect in Western Australia moves closer to the drill bit.

The rally has been driven not by revenues or production, which the pre-revenue explorer does not yet have, but by mounting evidence that a long-anticipated well is finally imminent. Civil engineering work at the Hussar site is being completed, conductor pipe has arrived, and the contracted Ensign 970 rig is being mobilised, with the company still targeting a September 2026 spud.

Hussar sits at the heart of Georgina's investment case. The prospect covers around 300 square kilometres of areal closure, with the planned well running to 3,200 metres and targeting subsalt formations for helium, hydrogen and natural gas. An independent geological report dated February 2026 assigned substantial prospective resources across all three commodities, though these remain estimates rather than a confirmed commercial discovery.

Through its subsidiary Westmarket Oil & Gas, Georgina is also pursuing the Mt Winter project in the Northern Territory's Amadeus Basin, giving it a second prospect behind Hussar. The dual focus on helium and naturally occurring hydrogen, alongside conventional hydrocarbons, has broadened the appeal of the story beyond a typical small-cap oil and gas explorer, tapping into demand from healthcare, semiconductor manufacturing and the emerging clean hydrogen sector.

The coming weeks are pivotal. With mobilisation of the drilling rig under way and spud targeted for September 2026, investors will be watching for confirmation that operations have begun on schedule. Until results are known, Hussar remains a prospective resource rather than a proven one, and the recent share price strength reflects anticipation of a catalyst rather than a demonstrated discovery.
