YouGov shares jump 9.7% as buyback replaces dividend; Roundhouse AI debuts on AIM

A dividend swap and a fresh listing gave AIM investors plenty to chew on, with YouGov shares surging and newcomer Roundhouse AI pricing its market debut at a premium.

YouGov (AIM: YOU) shares jumped 9.73% to 295.6p after the market research group scrapped its dividend in favour of a share buyback of up to £15m, even as annual profits slipped. Revenues for the year to July 2026 rose 2% to £396.6m, but pre-tax profit fell from £48.8m to £41.3m, with net debt standing at £142.1m.

Investors appeared to welcome the switch to buybacks as a more flexible way of returning cash, despite a weaker bottom line driven by cost pressures across the business. YouGov said cost savings had already been made, while its data products and research divisions held up better than the Shopper unit, which tracks household purchase behaviour and reported lower profit, prompting a strategic review of that part of the group.

Elsewhere on AIM, Roundhouse AI (AIM: RHAI) made its debut after switching up from the Aquis Exchange, raising £1.59m at 5p a share to fund development of its AI agent deployment infrastructure. The shares opened 13% above the last Aquis price, trading at 6.5p, giving the newly listed firm a strong start as it seeks to build out a transparency dashboard showing who is being paid for AI agent work and at what cost, a tool already live and free to use.

The moves came amid a busy session for AIM-listed names, with Blackbird extending gains on its Google Chromebook tie-up, while Cavendish, Impax Asset Management and Haydale all slid on weaker guidance or outflows. Against that backdrop, YouGov's capital return plan and Roundhouse AI's premium listing stood out as rare bright spots.

Attention now turns to whether YouGov's Shopper review results in a disposal or restructuring, and whether the buyback can be sustained if earnings keep softening. For Roundhouse AI, the focus will be on converting its AIM listing and fresh capital into commercial traction for its agent-economy data infrastructure.
