ONEI says that the flow of tourists to Cuba is increasing

HAVANA, December 2 (Prensa Latina) Today, the Cuban National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) announced an increase in the entry of travelers into the country, which justifies the efforts of the authorities to promote tourism.

The report indicates that until October, 729 thousand 98 million visitors were received, which represents 540.4 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

This data is equivalent to 1 million 409 thousand 105 passengers added. The note shows that 198,000,402 international visitors were received until October, which represents 587.6 percent, or 994,455 international visitors, more than the same period of the previous year.

The exporting countries to Cuba mentioned, in this order, by ONEI are Canada, the Cuban diaspora abroad, the United States, Spain, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Mexico, among others.

The number of visitors to Canada this year is 359 thousand and 34, which together with the Cuban community abroad (266 thousand and 264) make up the first two indisputable places on the list.

ONEI conceptually defines a traveler as anyone who travels between two or more different countries for their reporting.

It is considered in the event that the individual moves outside his country of residence

Internationally, whatever the reason for the flight or the means of transportation.

As for international visitors, these are people who visit a country other than the country in which they reside in their usual place of residence for a period not exceeding one year, and their main reason is leisure, entertainment, work, or any other reason.
