Tinder scammer stole $10 million from 20 women through a Ponzi scheme

The documentary “El Esfador de Tinder” was ranked seventh among the top 10 most popular movies on Netflix in Colombia, and it has already generated quite a stir on social networks resulting in numerous memes and conversations from different perspectives on relationships from dating apps.

This program presents the story of three women who were victims of Simon Leviev, a man who pretended to be a billionaire to steal those who gave him their trust after having an affair through Tinder.

The women who tell their story in the documentary are Cecily Feilhoy, Pernilla Shjuhuli, and Allen Charlotte. In Fjellhøy’s case, he confirmed that he gave him more than $250,000 in loans and credit card increases. It is estimated that the number of people affected is greater than 20 and the approximate amount of money stolen is US$10 million.

Leviev’s method of stealing was through a Ponzi scheme, a form of pyramid scheme in which new investors are tricked into raising money and paying previous investors who were also deceived.

According to the documentary, Israeli justice ordered Simon Leviev to pay $47,000, a far cry from what the victims claim was stolen, which is why Fjellhøy, Sjoholmy and Charlotte decided to raise $815,694 through crowdfunding platform GoFundMe in which, as of Sunday, February 20, It has already raised $213,606 through more than 7,700 donations.
