Vertu Motors drives forward despite tough conditions

Vertu Motors, the UK's 10th largest motor retail group, has shaken off fears over dwindling consumer confidence with news that sales volumes in both new and used cars in the first six months to August 31 were up on the same period last year.

Vertu did sound a warning however, that market conditions, particularly for used cars, were becoming “increasingly challenging”. It said that significant used car value depreciation has had the effect of placing continued pressure on used car margins.

Despite the pressure, Vertu said that the trading result for the six months ended August 31 would be in line with management expectations.
