Sarantel frees up cash with sale and leaseback deal

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Sarantel, the company that makes antennas for mobile and wireless devices, has bolstered its working capital to the tune of £0.5 million after agreeing a sale and leaseback of all its fixed assets.

The move saw the company sell its plant and machinery, test and computer equipment to Close Leasing Ltd. The principal terms of the finance lease are a 24 month term at a monthly rental of approximately £24,000.

Sarantel’s finance director Sitkow Yeung, said the deal strengthens its balance sheet and provided increased financial flexibility.

At the end of June 2008 and excluding the proceeds of this transaction, Sarantel had cash balances of £3.3 million equivalent to 1.7p per share. This cash balance includes £3.1 million net of costs received from the placings announced on March 31 and April 7 2008.
