Oxonica agrees strategic deal with BD over Nanoplex technology
19 September 2008
Nanomaterials specialist Oxonica, has signed a strategic agreement relating to its Nanoplex™ technology with Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), an American medical technology company based in New Jersey.
The agreement follows an earlier licence agreement signed with BD in August 2006 and subsequent technology development agreements. Oxonica said the move was is in line with its strategy of exploring strategic alternatives for its diagnostics business.
Under the terms of the assignment and licence agreement, BD will pay Oxonica a total of up to US$ 7 million following the transfer of patents and know-how and certain technical transfer milestones.
Richard Farleigh, Oxonica’s chairman, said the agreement was a major step towards achieving Oxonica's strategy. “We have developed the technology to the point where BD can commercialise the technology,” he said. “Oxonica can now further focus its resources on its major growth opportunities including security.”
