Menzies hails “watershed” contract deal with Marketforce

Menzies Distribution, the newspaper and magazine wholesaling division of John Menzies, has successfully renegotiated contract terms with Marketforce, one of the UK's largest magazine distributors - significantly expanding its footprint with their titles.
The agreement will see Menzies Distribution take on the distribution of Marketforce products across a much greater area of the UK, with effect from January 2010.
Menzies Distribution's market share of the distributor's titles will grow by around a fifth, with the value of the contract soaring to more than £155m of annual trade sales value.
Ellis Watson, the managing director of Menzies Distribution, said the contract was “another huge boost”.
He said: “This announcement means that, in the last few weeks, all four of the country's primary distributors have agreed that we merit a significant expansion in our business with them: it is hard to overestimate the importance of this endorsement.
“This announcement means we've now landed all magazine business in areas which represent 45% of the UK market's value - this is a watershed moment for us.”
