Internet shopping popularity fuels strong performance from ASOS

28 April 2008

ASOS, the Internet-based fashion retailer said today it expects full year sales for the 12 months to 31 March to top £81 million, up 90% on last year’s figure.

With sales booming, the company said pre-tax profits were likely to be slightly ahead of expectations after exceptional charges of around £1.1 million were taken into account.

Nick Robertson, ASOS chief executive, said that despite uncertain economic conditions he was optimistic about the prospects for ASOS. “We continue to benefit from the increasing popularity of online shopping and we have made considerable investments in management, infrastructure, product ranges and marketing to support and sustain future growth”, he said.

Full year results from ASOS are expected on 30 June.
