Horizontal well on Breagh successfully drilled

06 January 2009

EnCore Oil, Stratic Energy and Faroe Petroleum were all celebrating more successful drilling by their Canadian listed Operator, Sterling Resources, on the Breagh discovery in Block 42/13 in the United Kingdom North Sea.

The 42/13-5 high angle pilot hole encountered 165 feet of gas bearing sand confirming consistency with previous wells, and a subsequent (42/13-5z) horizontal well drilled a total of circa 1,200 feet of gas bearing sand.

The well will be tested in the next two to three weeks.

Originally discovered in 1997, in the last 18 months the Breagh discovery has seen appraisal wells in the east and west of the field which successfully tested gas, plus the drilling of the current high angle and horizontal well(s) which are about to undergo testing.

EnCore has a 15 per cent. interest in the licence and the operator, Sterling Resources Limited, has a 45 per cent. interest. Stratic Energy and Faroe Petroleum each have a 10% interest.
