Globus Maritime agrees to sell Handymax dry bulk carrier

10 September 2008

Globus Maritime, the marine transportation group that owns and operates a fleet of Handymax and Panamax dry bulk ocean-going vessels, has agreed to sell one of the vessels for US$52.25 million (£29.6 million).

The company has signed a memorandum of agreement with Nikator Navigation SA, an unaffiliated third party, to sell the M/V 'Ocean Globe', a 1995-built Handymax dry bulk carrier.

Globus expects to realise a capital gain of around US$30 million as the vessel had been purchased in July 2006 for US$25 million. The company said it would use the cash to fund future vessel acquisitions.
