Epistem upbeat as value opportunities begin to emerge

UK biotechnology company Epistem, reported today that it had made good progress in the first six months of the year to 31 December 2007, with sales up to £1.1 million from £0.7 million last time.
The company, which is commercialising its expertise in tissue renewal in the areas of oncology, gastrointestinal diseases and dermatology, saw year-on-year pre-tax losses remain broadly unchanged at £0.5 million.
Epistem cited significant progress on a number of key fronts, including accelerating development of selected therapeutic lead candidates and the completion of a £1.1 million fundraising in November 2007 for its newly emerging biomarker business
Matthew Walls, chief executive of Epistem said: “Following a very successful first half of this financial year, the board of Epistem remain convinced that in the medium term there will be substantial uplift in the value of the company based on its current performance and the value opportunities now beginning to emerge.”
