DiamondCorp ships samples from first two boreholes at Jwaneng South

24 November 2009

DiamondCorp, the southern African diamond mining and exploration company, has completed its second borehole at the J1 kimberlite in the Jwaneng South Project Area of Botswana.

The development follows news last week that the company had finished its first borehole on the project. Both sets of samples are now being shipped to Johannesburg for microdiamond recovery and interpretation.

The second diamond borehole at J1 intersected kimberlite from 15.53m to the end of the hole at 301.00 m vertical depth. The first borehole intersected kimberlite from a depth of 17m to the end of the hole at 340.02m.

DiamondCorp is earning a 77.5% interest in various exploration licences in Botswana from Geoperspectives (Pty) Ltd by funding exploration activities.

Paul Loudon, DiamondCorp’s managing director and chief executive, said: “We are pleased that J1 is emerging as a large kimberlite with the potential to host significant volumes of open pittable material. We look forward to updating the market with results from the microdiamond analysis early in 2010.”
