Coffeeheaven is on track on become the leading coffee bar in Central Europe, according to chairman Richard Worthington.

Announcing the company's final results for the year to the end of March today, he said strong economic growth across Central Europe was helping the company progress.

The firm saw net sales increase 80 per cent to £3.8 million, compared to last year. Like for like sales grew six per cent and operating profit more than doubled to £0.35m.

The company is targeting the Czech market with three stores now open in the country. During the year Coffeeheaven acquired a Latvian coffee bar chain with seven stores.

Executive chairman Richard Worthington said:  'The current year has started well. Strong economic growth across much of Central Europe, fuelled by European Union funding, is providing a powerful driver for our business. We are pleased to have secured entry arrangements for two further exciting new markets - Bulgaria and Romania.'
