Coastal Energy gets approval for production at Songkhla field

Coastal Energy, the oil and gas group working in Southeast Asia has got Thai government approval to install permanent production facilities on the Songkhla field.
The decision followed agreement of an environmental impact assessment for the 75 sq km Songkhla production area in the Gulf of Thailand. Coastal said the approval meant it could now continue the development of the field as planned.
Yesterday the company reported the completion of a second development well – Songkhla A-03 – and that together with Songkhla A-07 both wells were due to be completed late in November.
Another well, Songkhla A-01, has been on production since November 3 and has been producing approximately 5,000 barrels of oil per day with no water.
Once a mobile offshore production unit is installed production from the three wells in Songkhla is expected to reach 9,000 barrels of oil per day.
