Braemar's DV Howells wins MoD contract

02 August 2006

Braemar Seascope's wholly-owned subsidiary DV Howells has snapped up a contract from the Ministry of Defence to provide Emergency Pollution Response Services to incidents involving its units and establishments and United States Visiting Forces (USVF).

DV Howells will provide year-round, round-the-clock response any oil and chemical incidents involving MoD and USVF facilities and activities anywhere in the UK and Northern Ireland, UK coastal waters and worldwide in international waters.

The global service is for HM Warships, Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) and other MoD operated vessels.

The contract is for an initial three year period and with an option for the MoD to extend it to five years. Braemar Seascope said it could not give details of the value of the contract as it was dependent on the number of incidents and their extent.

The shipping group acquired DV Howells in March this year.

Braemar Seascope's chief executive Alan Marsh said he was the contract was an early demonstration of the company's potential. "We expect to see DV Howells continue to win new business in future now that it is part of the group,” he said.
