Blue Star Mobile wins BA contract for mobile phone guide to London

Mobile phone content provider Blue Star Mobile Group has won a contract from British Airways to provide the airline's customers with a guide to London that can be downloaded directly to their mobile phones.
The service, which was launched last week, provides information on the sights of London, restaurants, pubs and bars, shops and markets and museums and tours. The London Guide has been developed as a Java application and is downloaded to the memory of the phone so it does not need a continuing GPRS connection.
The guide, which is in five languages, is available in France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Switerland
and Finland.
The BA contract includes an undisclosed one-off fee for building the application, and an ongoing monthly management fee for the continuing delivery of the product over nine countries.
Mobile users in the UK can get the guide by texting the word 'LONDON' to 83118, or by visiting BA's microsite ww.ba.com/londoniscloser.
