Blinkx launches web-based version of broadband television offering

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Video search engine specialist, blinkx, has launched a new incarnation of its broadband television offering: blinkx BBTV, which it is making available without download, straight from an internet browser.

BBTV uses blinkx's patented speech and visual recognition technology, to deliver what the company describes as a high-quality television experience over the internet which links to information on the web.

Suranga Chandratillake, chief executive and founder of blinkx, said: “Advances in streaming technology and the pervasiveness of broadband have made software downloads an unnecessary obstacle for audiences. We're delighted to be able to now offer users our ground-breaking online television product directly through their browser.”
