Augean forms soil treatment joint venture

Wednesday, August 16, 2006

Hazardous waste specialists Augean Plc, has created Terramundo, a joint venture company with Belgium based DEC NV which will operate a soil treatment centre at Augean's Port Clarence landfill site.

DEC NV is an environmental contractor which has been successfully operating a number of waste treatment centres in Belgium and the Netherlands. DEC NV is a subsidiary of Belgium based DEME, one of the world's largest dredging companies.

Terramundo will offer physio-chemical treatment primarily for soils which cannot be sent directly to landfill and will make Port Clarence the largest operational soil waste treatment centre in the UK. The site will be accessible by road as well as by sea which would allow waste from a wide area to be transported to the site.

John Huntington, CEO of Augean Plc said:

'With Terramundo, we will be able to offer our clients the complete hazardous waste solution from the new facility which will be operational during the last quarter of the year.'
