Beowulf excited by latest test work on iron ore from Ruoutevare deposit
12 November 2009
Beowulf, the AIM and Aktietorget traded mineral explorer which owns several projects in Sweden, has received some encouraging results following metallurgical tests of ore grade material from its 100%-owned Ruoutevare iron ore deposit.
The latest tests were carried out by Minpro’s research laboratory at Stråssa in central Sweden and validate the previously confirmed reduction technique process for the ore. That process fully extracts the iron, titanium and vanadium from the Ruoutevare titanium-magnetite ore.
The result is important because it means that the processes needed to treat the ore will be acceptable to Beowulf’s potential international clients.
Further tests are now being planned to show that after extraction of titanium and vanadium, the remaining iron can be recycled to the reduction process so that an even higher exchange of iron is obtained. Likewise, the company is also looking into whether a high grade pellet feed can be produced from the ore.
Clive Sinclair-Poulton, Beowulf’s chairman, commented: “These metallurgical results confirm the potential of the Ruoutevare project - we have over 140m tonnes at 39% Fe inferred - and we expect the new studies to further enhance the project's appeal.”
