Amerisur Resources begins testing operations on Iguasa-1 well

16 November 2009

Amerisur Resources, the oil and gas producer and explorer focused on South America, is set to begin testing up to five different areas of interest in its Iguasa-1 well after drilling operation were completed.

Iguasa-1 lies on Amerisur’s 100% owned Fenix block in Colombia. The well has now reached its final planned depth of 6,220 ft, which includes a deviation of up to 46 degrees from the vertical drop in order to reach the Cretaceous formations.

Amerisur said that throughout the drilling of the section, strong manifestations of oil and gas were observed and that its data suggests that those zones may also have sufficient oil saturations to produce hydrocarbons.

The company has now run and cemented a 7" liner in order to allow preliminary testing of up to five horizons identified from logs. That liner is now in place and rig up for testing operations is ongoing.

Giles Clarke, Amerisur’s chairman, said: “This is clearly a very significant development for the company. With 100% of the asset, there is very meaningful potential value to be generated from a commercially viable discovery.”
