Acquisition for Augean

Hazardous waste business Augean has acquired Proactive Waste Solutions, a treatment operator for hazardous waste, for a consideration of £8 million in cash.
Augean said that the deal was in line with its strategy to supply customers with complete solutions for disposing of hazardous waste.
Proactive should benefit from regulation changes which came into effect on 16th July, broadening the types of waste classified as hazardous and requiring waste to be treated prior to disposal at a hazardous landfill facility.
Augean Chief Executive John Huntington said: ‘This earnings enhancing acquisition is an important step for the business. We are now able to supply customers with full hazardous waste solutions. 'Not only is the Proactive business profitable in its own right but there are significant opportunities for growth.'
