Empyrean Energy finished drilling on Quinn 3H well in Texas

Empyrean Energy has reported that drilling on the Quinn 3H well at its Riverbend Project, onshore Texas, US, has finished and the well is now being completed.
Last week Empyrean said that initial results from the well had been promising, including multiple significant gas flares. Since then the well has reached its 16,641 feet total depth and encountered further significant and minor fractures.
The well plan had allowed for up to 5,000 feet of horizontal drilling work. However, the operator and JV partners have agreed to cease drilling and prepare for completion as multiple significant fractures and numerous smaller fractures have been encountered since entering the target zone.
Empyrean noted that the number of fractures and gas pressures encountered generally compared favourably with successful longer horizontal wells drilled by operators to the north of the Riverbend Project area.
Work on the well has been successful since it was spudded in early September and during drilling, multiple fractures have been encountered that have all exhibited significant gas flares and influx of gas into the drilling mud.
Empyrean signed up for a 10% stake in the Riverbend Project in June this year with the operator, Krescent Energy. Quinn 3H is the first well on the gas play.
